The full text of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei’s message marking the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance is as follows:
“Today is the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance, a day that brings together several turning points in the confrontation between the Front of Truth and the Front of Falsehood, and between the oppressed and the oppressor. It may be said that this year, on November 4, the Iranian nation understands its position toward criminal America more clearly and definitively than ever before. Yet reviewing the roots and reasons for the United States’ ever-growing hostility, as well as the turning points in the Iranian nation’s firm stand against it, serves as a guiding light for the road ahead.
“The origins of America’s oppression of the Iranian nation date back more than seven decades, to the time when it orchestrated the August 19, 1953 coup to continue plundering the country’s national resources and wealth, particularly its oil. The decades that followed, up to the victory of the Islamic Revolution, were also marked by extensive efforts by US rulers to loot the Iranian nation’s assets. Along this path, by establishing SAVAK and imposing a suffocating security atmosphere on society, they gave the tyrannical government of that time greater freedom to suppress any protest movement. On the eve of the Islamic Revolution’s glorious victory, they also resorted to every kind of ploy to preserve their puppet government.
“Their hostile conduct in the period following the Iranian nation’s great revolution can likewise be summed up in a long list of anti-people actions. These included supporting separatist groups, coup plotters and the misguided hypocrites who ruthlessly martyred large numbers of ordinary people, in addition to scientific, political and social figures; providing direct and all-out support to the Baath Party during the First Imposed War; shooting down a civilian passenger aircraft and massacring its passengers; imposing extensive, prolonged and severe economic sanctions; planning and supporting numerous riots and acts of sedition, including providing them with weapons; assassinating General Qassem Soleimani, a national hero of Iran and the Islamic Ummah; stealing the Iranian nation’s money and assets in various countries; and, ultimately, launching direct military aggression during the Second and Third Imposed Wars, martyring large numbers of Iran’s distinguished figures, scientists and commanders, as well as vast numbers of its oppressed people, from newborns and young children to the elderly, and, foremost among them all, the great Leader of the Islamic Revolution, may God sanctify his pure soul.
“At every stage, America’s arrogant leaders and their lackeys have sought to impose their domination on Iran and force it into submission. In the latest manifestations of this bullying, they have even cast aside all the false and deceptive international norms and formalities, brazenly pursuing the partition of the country, the subjugation of the nation, the collapse of the system and the destruction of Iran’s ancient and authentic civilization. At every turn, however, they have been confronted by the solid wall of realities on the ground and the unshakable rock of the Iranian nation’s resolute will. The result of their miscalculations and arrogant delusions has been a heavy burden of costs imposed on the American people and the governments installed by the United States.
“Today, the long history of America’s hostility toward the Muslim nation of Iran, and the courageous resistance of all Iranians against this enemy, has reached a point where not only November 4 but every day and every hour has become a time for standing firm and struggling against the Great Satan. The scene in the Persian Gulf, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, has not only exposed the myth of America’s invincibility but has also revealed the weakness and humiliation of governments that rely on forces other than their own people, as well as the disloyalty and helplessness of great powers in defending the governments they have installed.
“Iran’s exercise of control over the Strait of Hormuz and the destruction of US military bases in regional countries, although a response to America’s aggression and crimes during the Third Imposed War, also constituted an initial jihad against arrogance on a regional scale. Should such transgressions be repeated, this response will assume far broader dimensions. This demonstration of power, together with the unity of all components of the Front of Truth and the wise and powerful acts of heroism by the Resistance Front, from Palestine and Lebanon to Iraq and Yemen, heralds a bright and hopeful future for the raising of the banner of the Front of Truth and the groundwork for a new world order. For whenever the Front of Truth possesses trust in God, perseverance and self-sacrifice, the Front of Falsehood, regardless of its power and capabilities, or whoever and whatever it may be, will be unable to withstand it. Retreat and defeat are its inevitable fate, for ‘falsehood is bound to perish.’
“Praise be to God, the Iranian nation has learned great lessons from the teachings of pure Muhammadan Islam, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, the principles of the Islamic Revolution, and the school of thought of its wise leaders, the Great Khomeini and the martyred Khamenei, may their exalted stations be further elevated. With each passing day, as divine promises are fulfilled, its faith in the righteousness of this path grows deeper. Today, as a result of the arrogant powers bringing disgrace upon themselves, America’s waning power and domination have suffered an irreversible decline in both dimensions of hard military power and international soft power, and the process of its collapse has accelerated.
“If there are still those who have even the slightest hope that the system of domination will change its behavior or undergo partisan and factional shifts, or who imagine that by making concessions to the United States they can persuade it to abandon its hostility toward the Iranian nation, they are gravely mistaken. This false notion shows ingratitude for the great victories the Muslim nation of Iran has achieved through trust in God, perseverance and struggle. The Great Satan’s ambition is the unconditional surrender of the Iranian nation. Even the slightest inclination toward submission to the domineering enemy would squander the immense capital gained through the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of every member of the nation, while emboldening the arrogant enemy to make further demands and engage in subsequent wars and acts of aggression.
“The only way to achieve a state of absolute deterrence is to continue pursuing the strategy of ‘an ever-stronger Iran’ through comprehensive progress. Unity, solidarity and social cohesion are the principal elements of success along this path and must underpin every word and action of individuals and society, as well as those of the country's officials. In this regard, just as the nation’s support for officials is essential, it is equally important for officials to sustain and strengthen their commitment to serving the people with greater dedication, a spirit of struggle and sincerity, and to ensuring their livelihoods, well-being, material and spiritual advancement, dignity and independence.
“The vanguard in building a bright and glorious future for our beloved Iran is our young people, university students and schoolchildren. They must continuously strive to seize and demolish the dark stronghold of ‘despair, hopelessness and the belief that things cannot be done’, and conquer the bright home of ‘hope and we can do it’. Fulfilling this mission requires exceptional preparation and equipping oneself with all kinds of weapons: knowledge, piety, skills, ethics, determination and extraordinary effort, as well as a ‘mutual pledge’ to achieve lofty goals.
“It is hoped that, through divine grace and the prayers of our Master, may God hasten his reappearance, the Iranian nation will soon experience victory, prosperity and comprehensive progress, and that the decline of the Great Satan’s domination will be further accelerated. ‘They see it as far off, but We see it as near.’”
