In a statement on Saturday, the Army Navy’s public relations office said the violating tanker had been operating in the restricted area in disregard of warnings when it struck naval mines and caught fire.
“Despite the US president’s false claims, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s policy of managing the Strait of Hormuz remains unchanged,” it added.
According to the statement, all vessels, particularly oil tankers and commercial ships, must fully observe maritime warnings and restrictions.
They must also avoid entering unsafe areas and refrain from switching off their identification and tracking systems, it emphasized.
