Reuters reported that Qatari mediators are returning to Tehran today, Friday, as part of efforts to reach an agreement between Iran and the US.

According to the report, the return of the Qatari mediation delegation is being coordinated with Washington and forms part of ongoing efforts to advance the diplomatic process between the two countries.

This diplomatic move comes days after US Vice President JD Vance sent a letter addressed to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. The letter was delivered to Tehran through Qatari mediators.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump also confirmed that the letter had been sent and that he had approved establishing this line of communication, although he claimed that it concerned assistance with the provision of medical supplies and equipment to Iran. By contrast, reports by US media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, have described the letter’s contents as relating to the resumption of negotiations and the examination of a framework for an agreement between Tehran and Washington.

Meanwhile, some media sources, citing publicly available flight-tracking data, have reported that a Qatari aircraft, which may be carrying the country’s mediation delegation, landed in Tehran a few minutes ago.

However, neither Iranian nor Qatari official sources have so far confirmed the aircraft’s landing or provided details about the Qatari mediators’ latest mission.
