The Iranian diplomatic mission, in a statement on Saturday, rejected the claims of Abdul Amir Taiban, who recently accused Iran of serious violations against Iraq by using the border crossing for the smuggling of narcotics and counterfeit currency.

The statement urged the relevant Iraqi authorities to take a stance regarding these claims, which the Embassy described as detrimental to the relations between the two nations.

Last Wednesday, Taiban accused Iran of undermining Iraq's security, damaging its economy, and engaging in the smuggling of narcotics and counterfeit currency, without providing any evidence.

The remarks by the Iraqi official also come at a time when the relationship between Tehran and Baghdad—particularly their border and economic cooperation—holds strategic importance.
