The ministry described the Khaf–Herat railway route as one of the country’s important transit routes, stressing the development of railway lines can reduce the cost and time of goods transportation and pave the way for an increase in Afghanistan’s exports.
By connecting western regions of Afghanistan to Iran’s rail network, the Khaf–Herat railway route provides the capacity to transfer commercial cargo from Afghanistan to Iranian ports and economic centers, as well as to markets in other countries.
