Speaking to Armenia’s Sputnik news agency, Shirgholami described Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan’s recent visit to Tehran as successful, saying it provided a suitable opportunity to discuss political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
The ambassador’s remarks came in response to a question about a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Mirzoyan three days after the Armenian foreign minister’s visit to Iran.
Shirgholami also referred to a meeting between President Masoud Pezeshkian and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Ashgabat, where the two leaders discussed prospects for future cooperation.
He said regular contacts between officials provide opportunities to exchange views and coordinate on various issues, adding that continued consultations are a natural part of bilateral relations.
“Sometimes it is necessary to discuss an issue twice in one day,” the ambassador said.
Shirgholami also underlined his regular communications with Armenian counterparts, noting that such contacts sometimes take place several times a day.
He added that sustained dialogue between officials is essential to strengthening relations and establishing a roadmap for future cooperation between Iran and Armenia.
