“Regional diplomacy shouldn’t just be about holding meetings. It must be a real tool: for crisis management, maintaining dialogue, preventing escalation, and driving practical cooperation,” the president said in a post on X late Friday.

He shared the post after returning from a visit to Turkmenistan earlier on Friday, where he addressed an extraordinary environmental summit of the heads of Caspian Sea littoral states in Ashgabat.

Pezeshkian also addressed a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Ashgabat and held bilateral meetings with officials attending the event on its sidelines.
