Iran seeks to expand technical, engineering cooperation with Afghanistan: Energy minister

Iran’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi has said that expanding technical and engineering cooperation with Afghanistan is among the main objectives of his visit to Kabul, stressing that the two countries currently enjoy good interactions.

Aliabadi made the remarks on Wednesday upon his arrival in Afghanistan.

Highlighting the historical, linguistic, and cultural ties between the two neighboring countries, the minister said his visit aims to hold talks with Afghan officials responsible for water and energy affairs, as well as to visit the fifth Abu Hanifa International Exhibition in Kabul.

He said there is currently potential for the exchange of technical and engineering services between Iran and Afghanistan, adding that Tehran seeks to expand such cooperation and that favorable opportunities exist to further develop bilateral ties in this area.
