On the sidelines of the 28th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Ministerial Meeting in Moscow, Iran’s Acting Oil Minister Hamid Bovard held a pivotal trilateral meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov and Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov.
The talks focused on accelerating regional energy integration and securing market share against Western volatility.
"The general agreement for the gas exchange has been reached, and we are currently pursuing the technical stages to finalize it," Bovard stated.
He expressed strong optimism that the pipeline infrastructure project pursued by Russia through Azerbaijan would soon enable seamless, large-scale gas transfers between Tehran and Moscow.
In a separate bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart, Bovard reviewed the expansion of Russian investments in Iran’s oil and gas fields.
Both sides moved decisively to clear remaining logistical hurdles stemming from the 19th Joint Economic Commission, ensuring the uninterrupted expansion of bilateral trade and infrastructure projects despite the backdrop of unilateral US sanctions.
Bovard also held dedicated talks with the Azerbaijani Energy Minister to explore new avenues for exporting Iranian technical and engineering services.
Highlighting their shared Caspian geography and access to regional energy markets, both sides emphasized the strategic necessity of coordinating gas market policies among producer nations.
These high-level diplomatic maneuvers underscore Tehran’s efforts to bypass Western economic blockades by forging sanctions-proof energy alliances within the Eurasian corridor, ensuring sustainable revenue streams and long-term energy security.
