In a statement issued on Thursday, the IRGC said the departure of US forces was the result of the Iraqi people's determination to preserve their independence, describing it as a major achievement for the resistance movement.
It added that two decades of US military presence in Iraq failed to bring security and had instead contributed to instability and insecurity in the region.
The statement described the expulsion of US forces as a heavy defeat for Washington, saying the United States gained nothing from its two-decade presence in the Arab country despite the deaths of about 5,000 US troops, by its own admission, and spending $4 trillion.
The IRGC also described the withdrawal as a first step toward the eventual departure of US forces from West Asia, saying the United States must leave the region and allow regional nations to manage their own security.
It also pledged to continue to stand alongside the peoples of the region until West Asia is cleared of US and Israeli forces and the “full liberation of al-Quds” is achieved.
