Speaking at a meeting on Sunday, Safarov highlighted the need to redefine relations and expand cooperation among countries with shared interests and perspectives in light of recent regional and international developments.

He described Iran’s resistance during the recent war as a demonstration of the country’s capabilities and potential, saying the developments had elevated Iran’s position in international affairs to that of the fourth superpower.

Referring to Western sanctions against Russia and restrictions on its economic relations with Europe over the past four years, Safarov said these circumstances had pushed Moscow to expand new trade routes, including cooperation with Tehran.

He stressed the need to strengthen Iran-Russia cooperation in the economic, political, and security fields, saying closer alignment between the two countries could help protect their shared interests and enhance their bargaining power on the international stage.
