Kazem Jalali made the remarks in a post on his X account on Saturday, referring to the 8th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit, which will be held in Moscow on October 27.

Stating that Iran—as one of the world’s largest holders of gas reserves—will be represented by President Masoud Pezeshkian at the forum, he noted that the summit will involve efforts aimed at shaping a new order in the energy sector.

Jalali added that the convergence of nations holding 70% of the world’s gas reserves plays a strategic role in market stability and in charting a roadmap for the future.

The GECF consists of Iran, Russia, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela—nations that collectively hold approximately two-thirds of the world's proven gas reserves.

The Moscow summit is set to bring together leaders of member countries to discuss developments in global gas markets, prospects for cooperation, and ways to promote the role of natural gas in the global economy.
