In a message to the 16th national conference honoring Abolfazl Beyhaqi, regarded as the father of Persian prose, Ghalibaf said on Saturday that the Persian language is a shared heritage of generations of Iranians and a carrier of the nation’s historical and cultural memory.

He said Persian was far more than a means of communication, describing it as a fundamental pillar of Iran’s historical and cultural identity that has connected the country’s diverse ethnic groups over centuries.

The speaker also recalled that the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, had repeatedly stressed the importance of preserving and strengthening Persian as a prerequisite for Iran’s cultural and civilizational progress.

Ghalibaf called for sustained efforts to protect and promote the language amid rapid changes and growing neglect of its potential, describing conferences honoring literary figures such as Beyhaqi as valuable opportunities to preserve Iran’s written heritage and reinforce national cohesion.

October 23 is observed in Iran as National Abolfazl Beyhaqi Day.
