In separate messages responding to congratulations from Iran’s Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, senior Chinese officials expressed appreciation and stressed their country’s determination to advance cooperation with Iran.
China’s vice-premier and the president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences each highlighted the readiness of their respective institutions to strengthen bilateral ties and open a new chapter in science and technology diplomacy.
Cooperation between Iran’s Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences is already supported by an established institutional framework. A key milestone was the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2016 to establish the Silk Road Science Fund, which has since provided financial and scientific support for more than 50 joint research projects.
The projects cover strategic fields including water sciences, advanced materials and biotechnology, helping facilitate scientific exchanges and technological cooperation between researchers from the two countries.
The latest messages from Beijing reaffirm the two sides’ commitment to expanding these ties and provide fresh momentum for closer engagement between the Iranian and Chinese scientific communities.
