Ali Mojtaba Rouzbahani, Iran’s ambassador to Turkmenistan, told IRNA on Monday that the two countries are pursuing increased rail and road transit, activation of the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran route, and development of the Ashgabat Agreement corridor.

The official also highlighted a trilateral protocol signed by Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to develop a corridor linking Central Asia to Europe.

Rouzbahani noted that closer economic ties could pave the way for Iran and Turkmenistan to develop further diversified regional trade and transit routes.

The ambassador also emphasized the potential for broader cooperation in energy, including gas and electricity swaps, as well as stronger coordination on Afghanistan-related issues, border security and migration.
