Speaking at a ceremony marking Space Week at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Salarieh pointed to progress in the Iranian space industry, saying that expanding space applications in people’s lives and the space-based economy is a strategic priority for the sector.

He said Iran’s historic milestones across many space industry indicators were the result of teamwork across various sectors, including the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, universities, research centers, and other institutions active in the country's space sector.

Today, numerous active space-sector companies—alongside government research centers, the Iranian Space Research Center, and universities—are providing services and developing a wide range of products, he added.

Referring to one such achievement, Salarieh hinted at Nahid-2, calling it the first indigenously built telecommunications satellite, which was successfully put into orbit and had most of its tests completed effectively.

He also cited the successful performance of domestic space launch vehicles, including the Qaem-100 satellite carrier and Simorgh, as well as the Chamran satellite mission, which involved the development of satellite attitude control algorithms and the execution of the country's first orbital proximity maneuver.

The head of the Space Agency further hailed the development of high-resolution remote sensing satellites, such as the Paya satellite placed into orbit last year, adding that more advanced generations are currently under construction.

The Pars-2 satellite, an advanced version of the Paya satellite, has been completed with imaging accuracy better than three meters and has been placed on the launch schedule, he announced.

Pointing to the government's emphasis on utilizing private sector capabilities in the space industry, Salarieh stated that this approach has moved into the operational phase over the past two years, with three privately built satellites successfully placed into orbit during this period.

Salarieh also referred to the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation, noting that its first unit was unveiled last year, but work is underway as a key space industry project for the Ministry of Communications.

He further emphasized that the development of the space economy is being pursued earnestly as a strategic initiative, and that this trajectory will continue with greater speed and momentum through the collaboration of knowledge-based enterprises, research institutes, universities, and other stakeholders.
