Speaking at the 113th session of the OPCW Executive Council in The Hague, Hadi Farajvand reaffirmed Iran’s full commitment to the convention and constructive cooperation with the organization, while outlining cases of US non-compliance. He stressed that Tehran had repeatedly sought clarification from Washington.

Farajvand said Iran has raised concerns over several US activities, including the country’s documented role in the Israeli regime’s chemical weapons program, arming former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, and programs involving non-lethal and incapacitating chemical weapons.

He said Iran would use all necessary means to hold the United States accountable in this regard.

Farajvand also described US and Israeli strikes on chemical, petrochemical and fuel storage facilities in populated areas of Iran during the 12-day and 40-day wars as chemical terrorism, citing serious risks to people and the environment.

Some of the bombed facilities, he added, were subject to regular OPCW inspections.

The 113th Executive Council session is being held from October 6 to 9, 2026, at the OPCW headquarters in The Hague.

The council has 41 members, and Iran is currently among them. The session is scheduled to continue through October 9, with Iran participating as a current member of the executive body.
