“All Iranian diplomats who attended UNGA, except one who departed earlier, left as scheduled,” Araghchi wrote on his X account on Sunday.
“Taking pride in fake diplomat ‘expulsion’ is inappropriate for the head of any diplomatic corps,” he added.
“It oozes of desperation and defeat, and is inconsistent with UN host nation obligations,” Araghchi stressed.
Earlier, the Iranian mission to the United Nations had rejected claims surrounding the timing of the departure of the Iranian delegation headed by Abbas Araghchi from New York.
“The Iranian delegation left New York on Monday evening, in accordance with the schedule that had also been communicated to the U.S. Department of State in advance on September 17,” the mission said.
“Having achieved nothing, the [US] State Department has resorted to propagating baseless and worthless news,” it added.
