In a statement issued early Monday, the ministry unequivocally censured the aerial attacks on the southern city of Taiz and the northern district of Khabb wa ash Sha’af, which it said resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a large number of defenseless Yemenis and caused severe damage to civilian infrastructure.
It noted that the continued violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, along with acts of aggression against cities and villages—which had previously also been attacked by the Israeli regime and the United States—coupled with the ongoing economic blockade, contravene the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, and are inconsistent with Islamic principles and teachings.
Reiterating Iran’s principled stance on the situation in Yemen, the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its readiness to undertake any good offices aimed at resolving the conflict based on the agreed-upon roadmap.
According to Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement, over 50 people were killed and dozens more wounded in the airstrikes carried out by the Saudi Arabian Air Force on Sunday afternoon against a shopping area around the central market of Taiz.
