Informed official: Claims of Iranian delegation’s trip to continue talks are untrue

An informed official has dismissed reports circulated by some regional media outlets about plans for an Iranian delegation to travel to Pakistan or Qatar to continue negotiations, stressing that there are no plans for such trips. He also said that the Iran-Oman talks, which had reached relatively positive results, were put at risk of being derailed by the recent provocative action by the U.S. Treasury Department.

Nournews: An informed official, speaking to Nournews, denied reports published by some regional media outlets claiming that Iran had expressed readiness to continue negotiations in Geneva, Doha, or Islamabad.

The official stressed that “reports about plans for an Iranian delegation to travel to Pakistan or Qatar to continue negotiations are completely false,” adding that there are no plans to dispatch a negotiating delegation to either country and that the recent media speculation has no factual basis.

Referring to the course of the indirect talks between Iran and Oman, the official said that negotiations that had reached relatively positive results after about a week of efforts were put at risk of being derailed by the recent provocative action by the U.S. Treasury Department.

The official emphasized that Washington’s tension-escalating measures are in clear contradiction with its claims that it is interested in resolving tensions through diplomacy, and that such actions have consistently complicated efforts to advance the negotiations.
