In a statement posted on its X account late Saturday, the embassy said Ghalibaf would be unable to attend the meeting, scheduled for the Indian capital on October 26-27.

The embassy emphasized that an Iranian parliamentary delegation would attend the gathering.

“Iran, as one of the members of BRICS, reaffirms its commitment to active and effective participation at the highest levels in the group's summits and meetings,” the statement said.

It added that the Iranian delegation would continue dialogue and consultations with delegations from other member states to expand and deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly in parliamentary relations.

The embassy also expressed its sincere appreciation to the Indian government for hosting the meeting and making the necessary arrangements.

It wished the gathering every success and expressed hope that it would produce constructive outcomes to strengthen cooperation and engagement among BRICS members.

India is hosting the two-day meeting at the Central Hall of the Samvidhan Sadan complex in Parliament on October 26–27.

BRICS is a grouping of emerging economies that includes Iran, which joined the bloc in 2024.
