Responding to Trump's threat to impose a naval blockade on Iran's ports, the military official said the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran would respond to such an illegal act in a manner "beyond the calculations and imagination of its planners."
The official said any attempt to blockade Iran's ports would constitute an illegal act and lead to an unpredictable escalation of existing tensions, adding: "The US terrorist military and its regional supporters, if they pursue this course, will undoubtedly face conditions that have not been anticipated in any of their calculations or operational scenarios."
Without elaborating, the official added: "Those advocating a blockade should not assume its consequences would be confined to Iran's shores. In the region's strategic equation, no unilateral action goes without consequences, and any new act of escalation will produce repercussions far beyond its point of origin."
The official further stated: "If some in Washington believe the costs of such an action would fall solely on Iran, they are making a serious miscalculation. Measures of this kind could disrupt supply chains, energy markets, major trade routes, and the global economy in ways that would exceed the ability of those initiating this scenario to manage or contain."
The official stressed: "Those seeking to open a new front must also factor into their calculations that the maritime domain is not confined to a single area, and any response to a threat will not necessarily originate from the same location where that threat began."
Concluding, the official emphasized the full readiness of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying: "Drawing on previous experience, all necessary assessments and operational preparations have been made for every level of threat. Any hostile act will be met, at a time, place, and in a manner determined by the Armed Forces, with a proportionate, decisive, and regret-inducing response."
