The power struggle in the US Congress and the messages that are sent to the world

What is going on in the Congress and has led to the formation of fierce fights over the election of the speaker of House of Representatives, is derived from the collapse and strong weakening of the past rationality among American politicians and the preference of personal interests over individual empowerment.
NOURNEWS - The 118th Congress of the United States of America began its work while Kevin McCarthy, the Republican leader, could not get the necessary 218 votes for the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, after 11 votes in 3 days. This is while in the first round of elections, 7 Republican re the Congress, including "Andy Biggs". This is the first time in a century that the US House of Representatives has failed to elect a lawmaker as speaker in the first round. Although, at first glance, this situation in the Congress shows the differences between the Republican currents, that can bring positive results for the Democrats and Biden himself until the 2024 elections and even lead to weakening the position of the Republicans in the upcoming elections, but a fundamental look at this issue indicates much deeper challenges than intra-party differences, the history of which can be seen since the 2020 elections. The 2020 elections were held with the presence of Biden and Trump, while unlike previous periods, the candidates abandoned all moral frameworks in the debates and used the crudest and most disgusting words against each other. Many media and political experts considered Trump and Biden as losers of morality and fare struggle, which has made the political decline in America more obvious. After the election results were announced, Trump refused to accept the results, unlike in the past when the candidates accepted their defeat. The attack of Trump supporters on Congress on January 6, which was unprecedented in the history of the United States, was the result of such behavior. The mid-term elections of the Congress were held in November 2022, while the fierce differences between the members and candidates of Democrats and Republicans in intra-party competitions turned into political and media disputes. Many candidates turned to the method of filing and exposing the corruption and negative points of their fellow party members, which is a relatively unusual event in the American election scene. Another point that can be considered is that Biden and Trump have announced their candidacy for the 2024 election, which has been opposed within the Democratic and Republican parties. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Arkansas' Asa Hutchinson announced their opposition to Trump's candidacy, predicting that he would lose as the Republican nominee. Jeb Bush, a leading Republican, also called Trump a weak person and said, "It's time to choose a new leader." This division is also visible in the Democratic Party, and some Democratic senators and political figures have opposed the nomination of Biden as the party's candidate in 2024. A significant part of the Republican and Democratic supporters should be added to these objections, who oppose the participation of Biden and Trump in the 2024 elections. The American website Newsmax wrote in this regard: "A new poll by the Rasmussen Institute showed that 55 percent of Americans say that Biden should not run for another term in the presidential election." 33 percent are in favor of Biden running again in the elections, and 11 percent said that they have not yet decided in this regard. This survey indicates that 78% of Republicans and 62% of independents say that Biden should not participate in the 2024 elections. On the other hand, only 35% said that Trump should participate in this election. 37% of Republicans, 69% of Democrats and 53% of independents said that Trump should not run again. The sum of these votes shows the principle of extreme mistrust of the American people towards the statesmen and the governing structure of their country. Based on this, it can be said that what is going on in the American Congress today and has caused the formation of fierce fights over the election of the speaker of the House of Representatives, is derived from the collapse and severe weakening of the rationality of the past among American politicians and the preference of personal interests over individual empowerment. Undoubtedly, the current situation of the Congress and the White House and the competition for power, which has created a deadlock in the process of electing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, shows several factions and severe divisions between the supporters of the Republicans and Democrats and the culmination of more conflicts in the power struggle between the members of these currents. It also reviles instability in the political structure of a country that claims global governance. BY: Pooya Mirzaei
