Iran, Kazakhstan vow to boost bilateral trade to $3 billion

Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, and Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Arman Shakkaliyev, have emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation to increase the level of trade between the two countries to up to 3 billion dollars.

During the meeting with Shakkaliyev on Tuesday, Sadegh emphasized both sides’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, adding that her visit aimed to follow up on approvals for the Iranian president’s visit to Kazakhstan.

She highlighted the key areas of cooperation between the two countries, noting that the construction of a logistics and transit terminal for Kazakhstan at the Shahid Rajaei Port is the top priority on their bilateral agenda. Sadegh confirmed that the contract for this project has been finalized and is ready for signing.

For his part, Shakkaliyev highlighted the importance of relations with Iran, noting that the current trade value between the two countries is 3 million dollars. However, as directed by the presidents of both countries, this figure is expected to rise to 3 billion dollars, he added.

He also noted the roadmap for cooperation and the readiness of Kazakhstan’s private sector to engage in joint projects, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s strong commitment to enhancing economic collaboration with Iran.
