NOURNEWS - The Polish parliament has passed a bill against the survivors of the Holocaust, which seeks to compensate for the theft of property by the Nazis.
Under the bill, property claims that have not been settled in the past 30 years will be stopped or dismissed. In addition, new claims about administrative decisions made more than 30 years ago will not be possible. The proposal will be submitted to the Supreme Assembly before the final adoption of the law.
Israeli Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has reacted sharply to the bill, saying no law will change history. The Polish law is a scandal and seriously damages relations between the two countries. I know what to do for the millions of Jews who have been killed.
He added: "The Holocaust is one of the most serious crimes in human history. We must fight against any attempt to deny it in order to support the victims and the survivors and for the sanctities of the life of all humanity!
"The decision of the Polish parliament is wrong," said Ned Price, a spokesman for the US State Department. We urge Poland not to continue to pass this law.
