NOURNEWS - In recent days, two meetings focused on the situation in Afghanistan were held in Beijing and London, and participants expressed concern about the unstable political and economic situation in the country and examined the mechanisms for providing immediate assistance to the people of this country.
On the one hand, in China, Afghanistan's neighbors held the third meeting at the level of foreign ministers, and on the other hand, in London, a virtual meeting was held to raise funds for Afghanistan.
The simultaneous holding of these two meetings further highlighted the differences between the two perspectives on developments in Afghanistan.
The meeting in China, attended by the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighbors, stressed the need for an inclusive government and said that the meeting was not to decide on behalf of the Afghan people, but to accelerate the process of bringing the Afghan currents closer to achieving inclusive government.
At the same time, the participants expressed concern about the development of insecurity in Afghanistan due to the presence of terrorist groups and the poverty imposed by the occupiers on this country and stressed the need for full security in Afghanistan, which requires sustainable security in the region.
The participants in this meeting, while rooting out the causes of the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, stressed the need to provide unconditional aid to the people of Afghanistan immediately and stated that this is the first priority of the neighbors.
At the same time, addressing the situation of Afghan refugees was considered an important principle, and everyone called for an immediate and comprehensive address to this issue.
Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi also chaired an observer meeting at the Afghanistan Neighbors Meeting in Beijing. Shared with the Taliban.
The Beijing summit stressed that concerns about the political and social situation in Taliban-held Afghanistan should not be a deterrent to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of the country.
Speaking at a London summit aimed at providing financial assistance to Afghanistan, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that 95% of Afghans do not have enough food to eat.
The UN Secretary-General said on Thursday that UNICEF estimates that about one million Afghan children suffering from severe malnutrition are at risk of death.
He said that because of the war in Ukraine, the price of food in the world is rising sharply and this disaster could have a negative impact on the provision of food aid to the people of Afghanistan. He went on to point out the effects of the US $ 9 billion blockades on Afghanistan's assets on the escalation of the crisis in the country and called for a reconsideration.
The United Nations has called for $ 4.4 billion in aid to Afghanistan, and those in attendance have announced their readiness to provide $ 2.4 billion in conditional funding for 2022 alone.
The participants in the meeting also tried to hide the destructive effects of the 20-year occupation on the economy, politics, and security, and to declare it the cause of the current crisis in the country.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Terrace blamed the Taliban's "seizure of power through violence" for the current crisis in the country. He made no reference to the 20-year military presence of the occupiers, including the British, in Afghanistan and its devastating effects on the country's underdevelopment.
It is noteworthy that the Westerners did not make any reference to the need for an end to the US seizure of Afghanistan's $ 9 billion assets, despite the UN Secretary-General's insistence.
Certainly, the access of the Afghan people to their assets in the current critical situation can effectively help solve their problems.
Another notable issue at the London meeting was the lack of reference to and taking the necessary measures for the Afghan refugee crisis as one of the main problems for the citizens of this country today.
The United Nations and human rights organizations have repeatedly stated that Western countries, especially Britain and France, have hosted Ukrainian refugees with the easiest rules, but thousands of Afghans with similar status have been in the most critical humanitarian situation behind their gates for months.
The meeting ended with virtually no action to support Afghan refugees.
A comparison of the Beijing and London summits on Afghanistan once again made it clear that the problems of the region, including Afghanistan, could not be resolved by the governments themselves who had caused the crisis in Afghanistan.
The difference between the meeting of Afghanistan's neighbors in Beijing and the meeting in London exposed the fact that the oppressed people of Afghanistan cannot rely on Western governments to solve their problems.
Regardless of the humane approaches of Afghanistan's neighbors, its dependence on the security of other countries in the region has created a high incentive in the countries of the region, especially Afghanistan's neighbors, to take initiatives to help the people of this country.
Afghanistan's neighbors at the Beijing and Tehran summits have taken important steps to accelerate the process of forming an inclusive government and fulfilling the social demands of the Afghan people, raising hopes for accelerating the process of political and economic stability in the country and reducing the problems and anxiety of the Afghan people.
