The interests of the Arab countries and the Vienna talks

Sanctions are not just against Iran; given Iran's great economic potential, this is the whole region that has been sanctioned, and in fact, with these sanctions, the West seeks to prevent West Asia from becoming an independent, advanced, and world-class region.

NOURNEWS - A new round of talks between Iran and the P4+1 group resumed in Vienna on Thursday with the focus on lifting sanctions, with Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister Faisal bin Farhan saying Riyadh hopes the talks will protect the interests of the Arab states in the Persian Gulf.

Anwar Gargash, the former UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, also made a similar comment last Thursday: "We are keeping an eye on the JCPOA process, and we hope that the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna between Iran and the world powers will be successful, and we would like to see the continuation of the regional dialogue process."

While both senior Saudi and Emirati officials have mentioned in their statements the interests of the countries in the region through the success of the Vienna talks, the question is what are the mentioned interests and how can they be ensured in the negotiation process?

Over the years, the United States and Western countries have always tried to threaten the defense and nuclear capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the context of pursuing an Iran-phobia strategy and using political, media, and security tools to confuse the countries of the region, including Arab countries.

Adopting this approach and developing a climate of distrust among the countries of the region has provided a good platform for the mass sale of weapons to the countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf and has poured significant capital into the pockets of Western arms factories.

Along with the formation of such conditions, the possibility of exchanging scientific, research, and technological capacities in various fields between the countries of the region has been minimized, and the production of science in neighboring countries has not been able to be in a synergistic process.

False speculations against Iran's peaceful nuclear program have also practically prevented the convergence of the peaceful nuclear program among the countries of the region and the enjoyment of all the indigenous achievements of the Iranian nuclear industry in the fields of science, medicine, energy, and so on.

The lack of a proper platform for the exchange of regional capacities has caused the Persian Gulf neighbors, including Iran and the Arab countries, and the larger West Asian countries, which have many economic, political, cultural, and social potential to become a regional and global powers, to remain in the circle of unconstructive competition and do not grow in proportion to their rich economic potential.

In the meantime, the imposition of illegal and oppressive sanctions against Iran and forcing other countries to follow it, should be considered one of the main components of limiting comprehensive relations between the countries of the region.

It is important to note that sanctions are not just against Iran; given Iran's great economic potential, this is the whole region that has been sanctioned, and in fact, with these sanctions, the West seeks to prevent West Asia from becoming an independent, advanced, and world-class region.

On the other hand, with its policy of Iranophobia, in addition to the economic sanctions imposed on the region, the United States has justified the development of militarism and even its support for terrorism and the Zionist regime as the perpetrators of regional crises, which has imposed many costs on Arab countries that is one of the consequences of American blackmail.

The critical actions of the United States in the region and its support for the Zionist regime have shown that the West has never sought to help the development and progress of the countries in the region, even its Arab allies, and is only acting within the framework of domination and plunder.

If the Arab states of the southern Persian Gulf seek to secure their interests before the Vienna talks, instead of pursuing a policy of Western sanctions and threats against Iran, they should try to lift sanctions and counter the threats against Iran within a realistic logic.

Major powers such as China and Russia, with full mastery of the destructive policies of the United States and the West and the illegal use of sanctions against other countries, emphasize the need to put aside the language of Western threats and sanctions against Iran and lift sanctions to pave the way for the flourishing of economic, security, and political capabilities of the countries of the region and the world.

If the United States and the West are willing to reach a good agreement by moving beyond political behavior and taking the path of legal interaction based on the JCPOA, the countries of the region can certainly create the conditions for resolving existing misunderstandings by establishing new interactions and strengthen the foundations of lasting peace and security in the region through developing political and economic relations.
