Why does Grossi insist on continuing destructive behavior against Iran?

It is not clear what exactly Grossi means by Iran's non-interaction with the IAEA, and his insistence on repeating such unrealistic and non-technical statements against Iran is supposed to solve which of current dilemmas in future negotiations.

NOURNEWS - While the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency spoke about the severance of his ties with Iran, the spokesman of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that he was going to travel to Tehran soon to talk with the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A few days ago, Rafael Grossi claimed in an interview with AFP that the IAEA had no contact with the new Iranian government to discuss some issues related to Iran's nuclear program, and described this issue as "amazing"!

Grossi claims that in addition to frequent contacts with the Permanent Representation of the Islamic Republic to international organizations over the past three months, he also visited Tehran in September and met with "Mohammad Islami", Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization, there were also agreements that Iran fully complied with.

The request of the Agency in accordance with the joint Eslami-Grossi agreement on Sunday, September 12, 2021 regarding the replacement of memory cards "specified equipment" was fulfilled through the goodwill of Iran, which is not only related to safeguards but also In particular, in order to achieve the oversight objectives of the IAEA Board, the Agency's inspectors carried out the agreed activities on 18 of the 20 cameras on 22 September 2021.

However; Grossi, who has not fulfilled any of his commitments, has accused Iran of not cooperating with the IAEA at least three times in the past month with non-technical and purely political statements, and at the same time spoke of the need to travel to Iran and meet with Iranian officials.

He emphasized; "I have not had any contact with this government, which was established five months ago, and the only exception is the technical talks I had with the new head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and this is astonishing."

Apparently, the IAEA Director General is reluctant to allow him to play a role as much as he and his institution, unlike in the past, and is frustrated that he is unable to fully implement all Western political menus to intensify pressure on Iran in the negotiation process.

In this regard, it is necessary to mention a few points:

First; The 13th government's allegation of non-interaction with the IAEA is a lie, and the mutual understanding between Iran and the IAEA during Grossi's visit to Tehran in September, the contents of which were stated in a joint statement by him and Mohammad Eslami as vice president and head of the Atomic Energy Organization.

Second; Grossi is no longer the Trump and Pompeo who want to support him, so in order to prove himself to the government, Biden has made claims about what he calls Iran, which is basically beyond the scope of his responsibilities and authority within the IAEA, and is now incapable of doing so.

Third; Obviously, Iran's interaction with the IAEA will take place only within the framework of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, and Grossi's expectation of commenting beyond what is beyond expectations is unrealistic, and certainly his repeated requests to meet with Iranian officials other than the AEOI chief, in conditions that do not show the slightest goodwill, is unreasonable.

Fourth; The trend of Grossi's anti-Iranian behavior, which is more like a pre-designed scenario to intensify the pressure on Iran in the process of future negotiations, shows that this institution is more of a political tool in the hands of Western countries than a role within its legal-technical duties. It has turned into independent countries to put pressure.

Given what has been mentioned, it is not clear what exactly Grossi means by Iran's non-interaction with the IAEA, and his insistence on repeating such unrealistic and non-technical statements against Iran is supposed to solve which of the current dilemmas in future negotiations.
