Official Blasts EP for Issuing Anti-Iran Resolution

Those who prevent innocent children from gaining access to medicine are also not authorized to speak out even about animal rights," Baqeri Kani said while referring to the European Parliament's resolution on the situation of human rights in Iran.

NOURNEWS - Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights Ali Baqeri Kani blasted the European states' efforts to deny Iranian children's access to medicine, and said that the Europeans are now accused of killing dozens of sick Iranian children and are not qualified to claim advocacy for human rights.

"Those who prevent innocent children from gaining access to medicine are also not authorized to speak out even about animal rights," Baqeri Kani said while referring to the European Parliament's resolution on the situation of human rights in Iran.

He criticized the EP's recent resolution on the human rights situation in Iran, and said that most of the European officials have played and continue to play an effective role in violating the rights of the Iranian people, including the right to live, the right to have access to health facilities, the right to education, the right to employment, and the right to development, by imposing illegal and oppressive sanctions on them.

In a relevant development earlier on Saturday, Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in a statement strongly condemned the recent anti-Iranian resolution issued by the European Parliament.

"The European Parliament that today issues a resolution against the execution and protection of criminals against the national security of our country is the same institution that not only did not react in the face of the cowardly assassination of innocent Iranian scientists but on the contrary always supported, sheltered terrorists, including MKO," the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said in its statement.

The Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, meantime, denounced the intervention of British Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee in Iran’s internal affairs, stupid recommendations of the Committee against Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and French government's anti-human rights stance in support of a criminal.

"While officials of terrorist and the criminal Israeli regime have confessed to carrying out assassinations in Iran, European officials and members of parliament have never dared to criticize those criminals," the statement further read.

It pointed out that If members of the European Parliament are able to put aside the "shameless support of the western countries for the Zionists and the terrorists and murderous dictators, then the world public opinion can listen to them".

"There is no doubt that Westerners, with their negative and dark backgrounds in support of terrorists, dictators, warmongers, and assassins, are never worthy of criticism of Iran's actions," the statement added.

On Thursday, the European Parliament adopted two resolutions against what it called “the human rights situation in China and Iran”.

In relevant remarks in September, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said it is nothing new to see some European governments indifferent and silent in the face of the biggest human rights violations by themselves and their allies, and rejected their statement on human rights conditions in Iran.

“It is not the first time that some EU governments are indifferent and silent toward the gravest human rights violations in their own countries,” Khatibzadeh said, describing the EU measure to submit an anti-Iran joint statement to the UN Human Rights Council as unacceptable.

"The statement adopts a selective approach and is invalid, as it is in basic defiance of the promotional approach to human rights," he added.

“They [Europeans] are competing in the sale of weapons worth billions of dollars to Saudi regime and regional dictators to kill the defenseless Yemenis,” the spokesman noted.

“While they call repression of protests, killing of blacks, massacre of minorities, especially Muslims, persecution of prisoners and repression of migrants inside the EU borders as law enforcement, they call fulfillment of judicial moves under criminal law by a competent court in other countries as ‘violation of human rights’,” he said.

“This double-standard approach indicates dishonesty of this group of countries in supporting human rights and politicization of this concept,” Khatibzadeh stated.

He reiterated that promoting human rights at the national, regional and international levels within the framework of religious obligations and adherence to the Constitution, domestic laws and international treaties, is one of Iran’s permanent priorities and in practice, it is also committed to comply with it.

“At the same time, Iran advises some European states, seeking to announce their intentions as the EU stance, to put the pursuit of improving human rights among themselves and their regional allies on a serious agenda,” Khatibzadeh said.
