The US ambassador to Beirut has been summoned; Denying his apology

Lebanon's communications minister has denied an apology from the US ambassador to Lebanon over a travel ban.

NOURNEWS - US Ambassador to Beirut Dorothy Xia has been summoned by Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Even for intervening statements.

The US ambassador to Beirut accused Lebanon's Hezbollah of obstructing the transfer of billions of dollars to the state treasury, and expressed concern about Hezbollah, calling it a shadow government.

He appeared in a televised interview, saying that according to a court order, the media was barred from interviewing him and transmitting his words.

On the other hand; Lebanese Communications Minister Manal Abdul Samad said in a statement that no one has the right to obstruct the freedom of the media and that any media problems should be resolved through the Ministry of Communications.

Earlier, a Lebanese judge banned a US-Lebanese media interview with Dorothy Xia, the US ambassador to Beirut, for a year by issuing a court order.

The ruling states that any media outlet that ignores this ruling will face a one-year ban or a $ 200,000 fine.

The ruling came after Dorothy Xia told Al-Arabi Al-Hadath that the United States was "deeply concerned" about Hezbollah's actions in Lebanon. Nasrallah threatens the stability of Lebanon, and his party is blocking Lebanon's economic problems.

The Lebanese Minister of Communications, of course, denied the Lebanese government's apology to the US ambassador to Lebanon for banning the broadcast of his remarks.

Lebanese newspaper Al-Nahar quoted informed sources as saying that Salim Jarisati, an adviser to the Lebanese president, had contacted the US ambassador and apologized to him for the court ruling.
