Anthology of Anti-American Poems by Mohammad Reza Shafiei Kadkani

In recent days, after the racist murder of a black man by a police officer, the United States has become the scene of a united protest against racism and police violence, which is why I am reminded of Professor. Dr. Shafiei Kadani's New York poem.

NOURNEWS - The history of the Iranian people's struggle against American oppression has various manifestations in the mirror of our time, which have undoubtedly shone more brightly and unequivocally with the Islamic Revolution and after its victory. One of the manifestations of this struggle and this oppression must be seen in the literature of this nation and especially in Persian poetry. Countless anti-American poems by poets after the Islamic Revolution are not only the narrators of the proud history of the Iranian people's struggle, but also the document of the oppression of these people.

Prof. Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani is both a scholar and a talented poet. In this respect, he is one of the few professors of Persian language and literature who has tied the artistic taste to science. Shafiei is considered by most academics to be a talented researcher and a prolific writer in the field of mystical literature, literary criticism, and sometimes contemporary poetry. Perhaps few people have noticed that he is one of the founders and influencers of revolutionary poetry and resistance poetry in general.

Perhaps the best way to reach Shafiei Kadkani's ideas in this regard is his poems; the poems that he has found and with a sweeter expression express the aspirations of the idealistic and painful poet of humanity in this day and age more than any other work. " Bouye Jouye Moulian*(*Name of a river in Bukhara, Uzbekistan) = The smell of Moulian's stream" is one of the works of this powerful thinker, in which several pieces are seen in the form of Nimai or New Poetry with this theme, but in the meantime, the poem "New York" is the clearest poem of the poet in the present collection. The poet's dream of destroying a city which its nectar is the dollar is depicted.

Prof. Shafiei Kadkani wrote this collection during the summer of 1975 to the summer of 1977 in the United States (Princeton, New Jersey). From this perspective, the type of poet's gaze is remarkable at this time:

“New York”
She intakes the freshness of African flowers and bushes
She kills all the nectar of Asian flowers
A city like the nest of bee
Stretched to the sky
And its nectar: dollars
One day,
In the heat of the sun, which season of heat,
Your wax will melt,
  O vulgar prostitute?
