NOURNEWS - Iraqi National Security Adviser Faleh al-Fayadh and the head of al-Hashd al-Shabi stated on Sunday that details of how the name would be chosen for the organization came after ISIL took control of some cities and how they issued a fatwa by the Iraq's Supreme Religious Authority.
Al-Fayadh said that he was with former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki at the time of the issuance of the authority's fatwa on " Jihad Kifai": "I was surprised by this incident." The fatwa placed a heavy burden on the Iraqi government and officials at the time, because the Iraqi Supreme Religious Authority is one of the manifestations of power in Iraqi society."
Regarding how they chose the name Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi, he implied: "I was with al-Maliki and some of the brothers. The common name in the prime minister's office was "Al-Hashd al-Watani" for the reconstruction commission, Al-Maliki chose the word Al-Hashd and I chose the word Al-Shaabi to form Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi."
The head of Al-Hashd al-Shabi stated that the fatwa was not only for Shiites but was issued to save the homeland.
Al-Fayadh noted that many groups of the Islamic Resistance and the Great Mujahideen played a role in the technical construction of Al-Hashd al-Shaabi: "Martyr Qasim Soleimani was able to gain a lot of support for establishing al-Hashd al-Shabi from different parts of the geography of the resistance."
It should be noted that Al-Hashd al-Shabi People's Organization, which was formed following the fatwa of the Iraqi Supreme Religious Authority, played an important role in the fight against Takfiri terrorism, and from the very beginning, the internal and external opponents of the resistance refused to accept it.
