Why Did the Fire of Unrest in Lebanon Flare Up Again?

Some profiteers are seeking to condemn the government for corruption, emphasizing that it is directly supported by Hezbollah, while the composition of the new government shows otherwise. However, Hezbollah has always stated that it will support all governments that have emerged from the legal process.

NOURNEWS - Lebanon is an important country because of its proximity to the Occupied Territories and its location in the center of the Middle East, and has undergone many political conflicts throughout history based on cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.

It was October 17, 2019, when the first signs of protests were seen in Lebanon. The protests took place under the pretext of dire economic conditions and the corruption of government officials after the fall of the Lebanese lira against the US dollar and the devaluation of the national currency by 70%.

The stoning of internal opposition groups and direct and indirect foreign messages also exacerbated the protests.

The protests, which did not seem alarming at first, gradually spread from Beirut to other parts of Lebanon, and soon the whole country became embroiled in violent protests and riots.

Concurrent with the unrest, the resignation of Saad Hariri as Lebanon's prime minister aggravated the situation by aggravating the Saudi-US regime, and in addition to the economic crisis, the political crisis became the subject of widespread protests.

Shortly afterwards, Hariri's proposal to return to power in exchange for increasing his powers revealed that the scenario, designed by foreigners, sought to reduce Hezbollah's power in Lebanon's political arena, a plan that did not succeed due to Hezbollah's intelligence.

As economic and livelihood protests erupt in Lebanon, the United States has seized the opportunity to intervene in the country's internal affairs. Statements by American elements, led by Mike Pompeo, that "the Lebanese people must choose between hunger and prosperity (which was the same as relinquishing their sovereign rights)" are evidence of US public interference in Lebanese affairs.

After many challenges and obstacles from the US influential forces in the Lebanese political body, Hassan Diab was finally elected Prime Minister in the last days of 2019, but this choice could not end the protests in Lebanon.

The second round of protests began in the New Year against the Central Bank of Lebanon. This time, the protests entered a new phase with the arrival of rioters, destroying public and private property during the protests.

The protests took on new dimensions with the release of a video in which protesters chanted slogans that disrespected the wives of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The video was met with strong reactions from Hezbollah and Nabih Berri, the speaker of parliament.

In response to the ethnic and religious norm-breaking slogans of some protesters, Hezbollah warned against attempts to incite sedition.

Note that; Amid protesters chanting slogans, some people called for the disarmament of Hezbollah, which shows the purpose of the unrest.

On the other hand; Using space in Lebanon, the Americans emphasize that Lebanon's main problem is with their resistance and weapons, and that if the Lebanese army does not want to do anything to stop it (the weapon of resistance), the West will be involved in any operation by the Lebanese resistance, and It will be with Israel.

The popular protests, which began with the aim of improving livelihoods and eliminating the corruption of the authorities, gradually changed and took on a political flavor.

Meanwhile, Some profiteers are seeking to condemn the government for corruption, emphasizing that it is directly supported by Hezbollah, while the composition of the new government shows otherwise, However, Hezbollah has always stated that it will support all governments that have emerged from the legal process.

At the same time, there are no signs of corruption that show a direct connection with the ruling team, while surprisingly there are signs of corruption in other authorities such as "Saad Hariri", "Walid Janblat", and The Assembly of Lebanese Banks.
