NOURNEWS - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that sanctions against Iran's Shipping Lines and China's E-Sail have come into effect.
Pompeo announced sanctions against the two companies in December last year, saying the sanctions would take effect on June 8.
Although the Iranian Shipping Company was on the sanctions list before that date, the sanctions were announced in December, from this point of view, it was new that according to the executive decree of 13382 and two labels "distribution of weapons of mass destruction" and "regulations of Iranian financial sanctions" were issued.
Explaining the effects of the sanctions, the US Treasury Department has made it clear that the new move will limit the shipment of drugs and humanitarian aids to Iran.
The US Treasury Department's Q&A page states: "The United States has extensive licenses and exemptions under sanctions that allow the sale of crops, food, medicine and medical equipment to Iran by Americans or non-Americans. However, these licenses and exemptions generally do not include transactions with persons who have been sanctioned under Executive Order 13382."
