NOURNEWS- According to the Korea Herald, Jang Kiel-sung, head of North Korea's intelligence agency known as the "General Reconnaissance Office," and Jung Jong-rein, head of Kim Jong-un's security forces, have been fired.
The newspaper also reported that Kwak Chang-sik was to take over as head of the Supreme Guard, which is responsible for protecting Kim Jong-un.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency also reported that Army General Rim Koang-il would be the new head of North Korea's intelligence agency.
Neither newspaper mentioned the reason for the dismissal or the changes in North Korea.
The Korea Herald quoted a South Korean official as saying, who did not want to be named, that Kim Jong Un may be seeking to consolidate his position of power and appoint close allies and perform in key jobs in the country.
The reports about the changes in North Korea came weeks after Kim Jong Un was reappeared in public after a month of absence.
