NOURNEWS- An American national arrested during a failed coup against the Venezuelan government has pleaded guilty.

In this regard, Luke Danman, an American, has admitted that he intended to take the President of Venezuela hostage with his assistants.

Confessions of the American citizen were broadcast on Venezuelan state television, and he said that he had been hired by a security company in Florida to take control of Caracas airport and use a plane to take Maduro to the United States.

The U.S. citizen continued to hire SilverCorp to train 50 Venezuelan citizens in Colombia in January for an operation against Maduro, stating that he had been provided with equipment for operations against Maduro's government.

The US citizen's confession came as US officials, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, had previously denied involvement in the failed Venezuelan coup.

Earlier this week, Venezuelan sources announced the failure of a plan to stage a coup and assassinate officials.

In this regard, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that 13 people, including two Americans, had been arrested on charges of plotting a coup.
