Iran and the path of renewable energy

The high potential of renewable energy in Iran, along with the government's double attention to this area, has led to a significant increase in the share of renewable energy in the country's energy portfolio.

NOURNEWS- By the end of April, the operating capacity of the country's renewable power plants has reached 823 MW. Taking into account the 513 MW of renewable power plants under construction in the not-too-distant future, the capacity of the renewable power plants will reach more than 1,000 MW.

While our country is rich in fossil energy resources, it also has a high capacity for renewable energy.

The high potential of renewable energy in Iran, along with the government's double attention to this area, has led to a significant increase in the share of renewable energy in the country's energy portfolio.

The load factor produced by solar power plants in Iran is higher than the global average. It is estimated that there are more than 150,000 MW of solar power plants in the country. It is also expected that between 15,000 and 20,000 megawatts of installed capacity of wind farms that are economically viable will exist in Iran.

So far, about 4 billion and 405 million kilowatt hours of energy have been generated from renewable sources in the country, thus preventing the production of about three million tons of greenhouse gases in the country.

According to the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), by the end of April this year, the network's losses have been reduced by 65 MW due to renewable energy and electricity efficiency.

Of the total renewable power plants, 61 are 44% owned by solar power plants and 19 are 34% owned by wind power plants.

Small hydropower plants also account for 12 percent of the total renewable energy capacity, and biomass plants account for one percent of the world's smallest share of electricity generation from renewable power plants.

Also, the share of electricity generation from the heat recovery of expansion turbines was 2% and electricity generation from the reduction of losses in the electricity network was 7%.

Although the share of renewable power plants this year did not reach the promised 1,000 MW last year, looking at the growth path of using these energies in the country promises a bright future and the path of using clean energy in our country, as a positive and promising global view.
