NOURNEWS- The military said in a statement that it had launched a four-pronged military operation today to search for and identify the remains of failed ISIL elements in the Makshifiyah area and neighboring areas west of the Tigris River.
The operation began with the participation of the Salahuddin Operations Command Units and the 45th, 35th, 42nd and 6th Brigades of the Popular Rally.
In recent days, the ISIS terrorist group has made unprecedented activity compared to the last one or two years in the northern, western and eastern regions of the Iraqi capital, Salah al-Din, Diyala and Anbar provinces.
In the most important of these movements, ISIS ambushed the "Makshifiya" and "Balad" areas in Salah al-Din province on Saturday morning, which resulted in the martyrdom of 11 al-Hashdal al-Shaabi forces and the wounding of 20 others.
The terrorist group also killed five people and wounded 10 others in another attack on a police station in Diyala province.
In response to ISIS's recent moves, a number of Iraqi political leaders have called for a review of security plans to counter the terrorist group, strengthen intelligence activities and control borders, and suppress ISIS's dormant nuclei.
