Nournews: Speaking exclusively to Nournews on the sidelines of a meeting with the family of the late Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the acting minister of defense and armed forces support highlighted the late commander’s personal qualities and strategic thinking, saying that the enemy had been seeking his assassination for years after recognizing his exceptional personal qualities, knowledge, experience and valuable and influential role in the country’s major decision-making processes.
Referring to the late Shamkhani’s military and strategic capabilities, he added: “Martyr Shamkhani” possessed exceptional military thinking and a strategic outlook, and it is difficult to find another commander who demonstrated a comparable level of strategic thinking in the military sphere.
The acting defense minister also pointed to Shamkhani’s role in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, saying that although he was martyred at the outset of the Ramadan War, the importance of the decisions and measures he had taken before his death—in his capacity as secretary of the Defense Council and adviser to the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution—became more evident in the design of combat strategies and in establishing the mechanisms and preparations needed to defend the country during the Ramadan War.
Ebn al-Reza continued: “Most experts in this field emphasize the role and impact of Martyr Shamkhani in this regard. His strategic thinking in the area of support for the armed forces was such that he always looked to the future and even took 50-year horizons into consideration.”
He noted that this long-term outlook and strategic thinking have helped ensure that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces today possess significant capabilities and strength, particularly in the missile and naval sectors.
