Iran says Strait of Hormuz meeting postponed at request of regional states

Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed Sunday that a planned meeting of foreign ministers from Persian Gulf coastal states has been postponed at the request of some regional countries.

Mohammad Ali Bak, director-general of the Foreign Ministry’s Persian Gulf Department, told IRNA that the meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, was delayed by a joint decision between Oman and Iran.

“At the request of some regional countries and by a joint decision of Oman and Iran, the meeting of foreign ministers of Persian Gulf coastal states, which was planned for Monday, has been postponed to another date,” Bak said.

He added that Iran, in close consultation with Oman, will make the necessary arrangements regarding an appropriate time to hold the meeting.

Earlier, Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi announced that the regional meeting on the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed.
