Iran prioritizes nuclear fusion for future energy needs, says nuclear chief

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has emphasized that Iran is focusing on nuclear fusion as a key priority for the future.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the opening and unveiling of four knowledge-based achievements by the AEOI on the occasion of Government Week on Wednesday, Mohammad Eslami said the organization has achieved scientific and technological advances by relying on domestic capabilities and without dependence on foreign countries, while expanding its services across various sectors of the country.

Referring to sanctions and external pressures, he stressed that such measures have not hindered Iran’s nuclear progress and the country will continue on its path.

Eslami identified the development of “nuclear fusion” as a future priority, saying Iran must advance in the field by relying on domestic capabilities, knowledge-based companies, and universities.

He added that the AEOI’s innovation network has enabled fusion activities to move beyond the technology demonstration stage toward system development and capability building.

Eslami also described the opening of a non-destructive testing (NDT) training center as a step toward improving industrial quality, advancing technology, and training specialized personnel in the country.
