Ghalibaf pays tribute to Iraqi resistance martyrs in Najaf

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has visited the grave of martyr commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and other Iraqi resistance martyrs in Najaf.

On the third day of the Iranian parliamentary delegation’s visit to Iraq on Friday, Ghalibaf paid tribute to the martyrs of the Iraqi resistance by visiting Wadi al-Salam Cemetery.

Upon arriving at Baghdad airport on Wednesday, Ghalibaf, along with the Iranian parliamentary delegation, also visited the site where Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated in a US terror attack on January 3, 2020, paying tribute to the two martyred commanders of the resistance.

The Parliament speaker met with several senior Iraqi officials, including his counterpart, Haibat al-Halbousi; President Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amidi; Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi; and the President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has emphasized that Iran and Iraq will stand against global arrogance and continue their path of resistance.

He emphasized that the unity of the Muslim community, particularly between the Iranian and Iraqi nations, is unbreakable, saying that the bond is rooted in the teachings of the Quran, love and adherence to the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH), the culture of martyrdom and Ashura, and Imam Ali (PBUH)’s school of thought.

The parliament speaker said that Iranian and Iraqi combatants stood together at critical junctures, including in the fight against the Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group, adding that the Iraqi people also stood alongside Iran during the recently imposed war by the United States and the Israeli regime. Ghalibaf described martyrs Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani as symbols of this bond.

He also said that the Resistance Front against the Israeli regime is more alive and active today than ever, adding that it has followed a path charted by Imam Khomeini (RA) and the martyrs, which the nations of the region are continuing through brotherhood, solidarity, and support for religious authorities and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
