Last year, 2.4 billion shrimp larvae were produced across 4,980 hectares of farming ponds in the province, and more than 30,000 tons of shrimp were harvested from these farms, Rad told IRNA on Sunday.
He added that 20,000 tons of shrimp were exported, while the remainder was supplied to the domestic market.
During the same period, exports of other aquatic products from Bushehr Province totaled approximately 4,500 tons, he noted.
China is the most important export market for Bushehr’s fish, while the majority of the province’s shrimp is exported to Russia, although exporters face challenges along this route, Rad said.
Modernizing farm infrastructure, pursuing solutions to combat shrimp diseases such as HPND, and helping organize specialized exhibitions have been among the effective measures taken in the sector, he said.
Approximately 3,750 hectares of farms in Bushehr Province have been stocked with shrimp larvae, he added.
