Continued US actions threaten security of Hormuz Strait

The ambassador and deputy permanent representative of Iran to the UN says that continuation of the US actions threaten the security of the Strait of Hormuz to a great extent.

Gholamhossein Darzi made the remarks in a session of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday, emphasizing that the continued US actions threaten the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding the situation in the Middle East, he stated, "Despite the announced ceasefire, Gaza remains devastated and is under siege. The Israeli regime’s occupation continues to violate the ceasefire through continuous military attacks and severe restrictions on humanitarian access.”

At the same time, the Israeli regime continues to expand its illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank which is a gross and clear violation of the international law and the UN Charter.

Israel's repeated acts of aggression against Lebanon and continued violations of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity increasingly threaten regional peace and security, and the continuation of Israeli regime's illegal actions pose a serious threat to the international peace and security, he underlined.

The Islamic Republic of Iran once again emphasizes that any credible solution must guarantee a permanent ceasefire, unhindered access to humanitarian aid, complete withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces, and full membership of the Palestinian state in the United Nations, the envoy continued.

The issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on November 21, 2024 against the criminal Prime Minister of the Israel Benjamin Netanyahu for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity is a clear reminder that no one is above international law.

The US representative has once again resorted to lies, disinformation, and a campaign of distortion in a desperate attempt to justify the US’s illegal, aggressive actions committed against Iran.

These claims are part of the long-standing hostile policy of the United States and Israeli regime against Iran which is pursued to advance their political and military goals, conceal their illegal actions and malicious activities in the region, and justify the United States' "destabilizing military presence" in the region, Darzi underlined.
