SCO FMs sign 25 cooperation documents in Kyrgyzstan meeting

The foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states have signed 25 documents within the framework of nine decisions at the conclusion of the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Kyrgyzstan’s Cholpon-Ata.

The meeting for signing the documents took place on Friday. Araghchi arrived in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, late on Thursday to attend the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO.

The Iranian top diplomat held separate bilateral meetings with some of his counterparts, including Russia and Pakistan Foreign Ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the SCO meeting.

The ministers are expected to discuss current international and regional issues, as well as the status and prospects of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the SCO. The main focus of this meeting will be on strengthening peace, security, and stability in the region, expanding trade and economic cooperation, deepening cultural and humanitarian ties, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the organization.

The ministers will also coordinate the draft documents for the upcoming SCO Heads of State Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
