During the meeting on the sidelines of the Council of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in Samarkand that concluded on Wednesday, Ansari and Shiralizadeh exchanged views on the environmental issues, including related concerns the two neighbors could tackle together.
Stating that Tehran and Dushanbe have common understanding on mutual issues at regional and international levels, the Iranian official emphasized that the two countries can effectively cooperate in the fields of biodiversity conservation, wildlife and endangered species protection, and pollutant monitoring.
She also referred to the convention on plastics, raising the possibility of joint cooperation to deal with this environmental hazard.
The Tajik minister, while expressing interest in developing environmental cooperation with Iran, announced his readiness to accept Iranian experts and specialists in the field of biodiversity in order to exchange their experiences in the field.
Ansari traveled to Uzbekistan to attend the 71st Council of the Global Environment Facility as well as a meeting of environmental ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states held in Samarqand.
