The head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation says that trade between Russia and Iran increased by over 20 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year.

During a meeting on Monday with Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, Valery Pikalyov expressed hope that the activation of all trade routes between the two countries would lead to significant growth in trade volume this year.

He called Iran a strategic partner of Russia and described the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in customs, as developing.

The Russian customs chief announced the Russian Customs Service’s readiness to facilitate customs procedures and eliminate trade barriers between Iran and Russia.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Pikalyov described the Iranian people’s defense of their country as heroic and emphasized the support of the Russian government and people for Iran.

For his part, Jalali expressed gratitude for Russia’s support during the imposed war by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, adding that Iran will firmly defend its interests.

He described customs cooperation between the two countries as essential for the development of bilateral trade and considered the growth in trade between the two nations as promising.
