M.R crowned women’s ice hockey league champion

M.R clinched the title of Iran’s fifth women’s ice hockey league despite suffering a 3-2 defeat to Hockey Panda in the final game of the season.

M.R had already secured the championship with 26 points before the last-round clash. Hockey Panda’s victory, however, proved crucial as it sealed the runner-up spot for the team.

The decisive goal came in the third 20-minute period when Elham Modirdehghan found the net to hand Hockey Panda the win. Ice Box Penguins also finished the season with 26 points, taking third place, while Ice Stars ended the campaign in fourth.

Following the match, a closing ceremony was held in the presence of officials from the Ski and Winter Sports Federation and the Ice Hockey Association. Championship cups and medals were awarded to the top three teams and players.

The competition was held under the title of the Mahdis Cup, in honor of Mahdis Nazari, one of the female students killed at the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab in US-Israeli airstrikes.
