Nournews: As the war moves toward a protracted phase, analysts are warning of a scenario in which the continuation of conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran could lead to the use of unconventional weapons.
Youssef Hassan, a prominent Algerian analyst, wrote in the widely circulated Dzair Tube that as the war between the United States and Israel and Iran approaches its final, attritional stages, analysts are unveiling a dangerous scenario that could alter the rules of engagement.
According to informed sources, the U.S.–Israeli war against Iran is nearing its final days, as both sides have largely exhausted their lists of military targets, and the only factor that will determine the victor is “resilience.”
In this context, strategic assessments warn of the need to carefully examine the indirect U.S. threat regarding the potential use of nuclear weapons and the attempt to instill fear among Iranians.
However, a striking reality is that Iran, despite not possessing nuclear weapons, may have the capability to equip its ballistic missiles with chemical and biological warheads, which it could produce with relative ease. This means it could retaliate against any nuclear attack by targeting Israel, U.S. forces, and their allies in the region.
The most alarming point is that the damage caused by such a response would be no less severe than that caused by nuclear weapons—and could even be more catastrophic.
Iran has previously demonstrated that it will “go all the way,” having bombed gas reservoirs in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in response to attacks on its own gas fields, and having destroyed aluminum industries in Bahrain and the UAE in retaliation for strikes on its steel sector.
Even if there are political and legal consequences, Tehran would not fear them, as such actions would be carried out as retaliation rather than aggression.
Even more concerning is that existing shelters in Israel would not be capable of protecting civilians against chemical weapons.
Therefore, analysts believe that the parties involved must immediately halt the war, as Iran would not hesitate to carry out its threats, and any use of unconventional weapons would be met with an immediate and similar response.
