Int’l law forbids states from allowing territory to be used for aggression: Iran FM

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the Islamic Republic’s defensive measures are directed solely at aggressors and facilities used for attacks against Iran, stressing that no country is permitted under international law to allow its territory to be used for acts of aggression.

FM Araghchi made the remarks during a phone conversation on Tuesday with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Araghchi outlined Iran’s position regarding military aggression by the US and Israeli criminal regimes, emphasizing that international law prohibits any country from providing its territory or resources for hostile actions against another state.

He warned that the Israeli regime and the United States may attempt to stage false flag operations aimed at undermining Iran’s relations with other countries in the region.

Araghchi stressed that Iran’s defensive actions are strictly focused on aggressors and on bases or facilities used to launch attacks against the country, reiterating that Iran does not seek to target neighboring states.

During the call, the two foreign ministers also discussed bilateral matters and underlined the importance of continued consultations between Tehran and Baku in order to prevent misunderstandings amid the current regional situation.
